Omoda Becomes the First Chinese Automaker to Produce Vehicles in Europe

Chery's Subsidiary Omoda has become the first Chinese automaker to produce vehicles in Europe. The Chinese automaker is expanding globally and convincing leaders to adopt electric vehicles in the automotive industry's shift toward sustainability.

At the inauguration ceremony held in Spain on 19th of April 2024, President of Spain Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón and other influential European leaders jointly witnessed the landmark moment of the Omoda new energy vehicle factory plan in Spain.

Earlier in February 2024, Omoda became the first brand of the Chery Group to enter the European Union market as it held a grand launch event in Madrid, Spain, announcing the official entry of its first all-electric crossover SUV, the Omoda E5, into the Spanish market.

The Omoda E5, launched in Nepal last February, has garnered praise globally and in Nepal for its advanced electric technology, efficient performance, and futuristic design. The company recently announced that over 150 units of the Omoda E5 crossover have been delivered in the Nepalese market since its introduction. As per the company, it has also received over 400 bookings for the Omoda E5 electric crossover within just three months of its official launch.

The Omoda E5 is equipped with a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate blade battery pack, providing a range of 430 km based on the WLTP standard. Powered by a front-mounted 99 kW electric motor, the Omoda E5 delivers 340 Nm of maximum torque. Using an AC charger (11 kW charging pile), the E5 can charge from 30% to 80% in just 4 hours, while DC fast charging (80 kW charging pile) achieves the same in a speedy 28 minutes.
